Top 5 Drupal 7 Modules | Calgary web Design
So last week we went over my top 3 SEO modules for Drupal 7. Today we are going to go over my top 5 Drupal 7 modules in general. All of these modules I use in all my web design builds and can really only tell you that if you have to choose only a few, take them in this order.
Views provides a flexible method for Drupal 7 web designers to control how lists, content, users, taxonomy terms are displayed. Views is a smart little query builder that, can build a query, make it work and give you results. Views is not one of the easier modules to understand, so a little knowledge and research can go a long way with this little gem.
This module will allow you to control how your content is displayed. It uses a nice easy drag and drop method, to make it rather simple for most users. You can arrange your views, nodes, comments, users, etc the way you wish, without all the extra hassel of template files.
Both Views and Display Suite require CTools to operate, so this is an essential module if you choose either of those. So CTools is not a module that you need, but can be very powerful if you choose to build you own modules.
Many of you may think, why is this number 4, but this is not a post for pros only. This little module will help out the most virgin Drupal 7 operator. This drop down menu contains much more information for the novice user, than the original menu. It will show us pretty well everything we want to see in an easy to look for fashion. I highly recommend this for new Drupal users or if you are transferring from a different CMS.
Once again this module is to help the novice or pro with an easier method of entering in your HTML code. This a purely an HTML editor which has the same basic layout of Word, thus making it easy to edit text, add images, colors, links, etc. I hope you enjoy this quick little list of what I think are a great set of starter modules. Don’t forget to view the Drupal 7 SEO modules page if you require some help in that area.
